The Suit
Andy Hahn
I can't wait to be retired.Â
I'll wear a suit every day;Â
A nice brown one with a vestÂ
and a hat
perhaps a fedora.Â
I'll go to the park and play chessÂ
on summer afternoons,Â
and on winter onesÂ
I'll sit at home reading.Â
My hobby will be cultural criticism.Â
I'll divide my time between proselytizingÂ
and condemning.Â
By then I'll be a BuddhistÂ
but I won't be quite ready for a new life.

A Dress
Sarah Scally
I can’t imagine being retired
I’m too caught up on the job I don’t have
On the blouses I’ll have to wear
The dresses
The heals
I won’t have the time to spend
wasting time
on summer afternoons or winter nights
I don’t knowÂ
what I want to beÂ
when I grow up.
I don’t think I’ll be happy in that life.
